10/14 Doubleheader

 Today we played the same team in both ends of our doubleheader: the Rangers.

In the first game, I started behind the plate and really didn't do that well. My block attempts weren't great, and the umpire took some heat. I caught for the first two innings, and then went to first base, where I made a pick to get the runner out. Nonetheless, it was an easy pick, and I need to give the shortstop credit for making a nice play. After that, I pitched. I struck out the first guy looking on a curveball, and struck out the second guy swinging on a high fastball. I then proceeded to walk two batters before the last grounded out to third. No runs came in, but I threw 14 balls and only 11 strikes, due in part to me throwing my 2-seam and curveball too much when I need to work on them a little bit more.

At the plate I went 2-2 with a line drive single to centerfield, on which I advanced to second on an error. While standing on second I did the Oriole Sprinkler, and now I can cross that off my bucket list. I also hit a groundball single between the second baseman and the bag. I drove in two runs and scored none. 

In the second game I sat out the first two innings and then went to centerfield. A few hits came through that I had to get and throw in, but nothing very hard came my way.

At the plate I went 1-2 with a bunt single off of the team's ace, getting the team's first hit. Because of the shift they pulled because I'm a lefty, the third baseman was playing shortstop, and I couldn't resist the urge. In my other AB, I flew out to left. I had no RBIs or runs, as we fell 7-5. I went 3-4 in the whole doubleheader.

That puts my slash line up to .400/.526/.400 on the season. This ends our short fall season, so within the week I should be able to have my season stats out if you want them.

Tomorrow Awaits...

      Tomorrow my team begins a tournament that runs from, well today I guess, through Saturday. This will be hectic because we're getting at least three games in that time, and we don't have enough pitching for that. I expect that I will pitch, and there is a chance I will be pitching against a friend of mine, which would be fun, but he's, let's just say a bit more experienced at pitching than I am. Nevertheless, it should be fun, except for the fact that I'm going to be at the fields for 10 hours tomorrow, and we may be playing at nine in the morning the next day.

9/30 Doubleheader

 Alas, we had another doubleheader. We actually have four more games in the fall season, and two Saturdays to play. We have two doubleheaders. Anyway, we were playing the same team for both of the games today. They are called the Legacy. In the first game, I started in leftfield. Nothing happened in the first inning, but in the second inning, after our starter was pulled, I made a diving catch in the outfield, which felt really good because I had been in a batting slump lately, and it was nice to help the team. At the plate, I went 0-1 with an RBI reach on error. We lost that game, but I really don't remember the score. In the second game, I started in left again, and nothing really happened. I came in to catch an inning, then I pitched. I came in with a 6-4 lead. The first batter grounded out to second. The next batter reached on an error. After that, I gave up an infield single. A Windy Day

      Yesterday (March 1), my JV team played a team called the Wind. We were home and I started at first base and batted second. In the first inning I made two putouts at first-caught throws from shortstop and pitcher to get the batters out. But the opposing team scored 2 runs in their half of the inning. Hitting-wise, I grounded out to third base with a 2-0 count. After 1 it was 3-2 in our favor.     In the second inning, the Wind scored another run. I didn't get to field any balls at first base, but came to bat again. I walked (and pimped it again).. That gives me four walks in my last five plate appearances. After 2 the score was 5-3     In the third inning I didn't get any outs at first base, but when the pitcher made a pickoff attempt my shoulder died. Still not sure what happened to it, but I couldn't lift it with ease, and the runner was safe.
