Everything comes to an end

Alas, my fall season is over. My team is still practicing, and the spring season is where we are really going to go for wins. This season was a bit of a warmup. So, after I broadcast my stats to the world, I will be done publishing for a while. If you like this blog, then wait; I will be out with more posts come the spring season.

10/14 Doubleheader

Today we played the same team in both ends of our doubleheader: the Rangers. In the first game, I started behind the plate and really didn't do that well. My block attempts weren't great, and the umpire took some heat. I caught for the first two innings, and then went to first base, where I made a pick to get the runner out. Nonetheless, it was an easy pick, and I need to give the shortstop credit for making a nice play. After that, I pitched. I struck out the first guy looking on a curveball, and struck out the second guy swinging on a high fastball. I then proceeded to walk two batters before the last grounded out to third. No runs came in, but I threw 14 balls and only 11 strikes, due in part to me throwing my 2-seam and curveball too much when I need to work on them a little bit more. At the plate I went 2-2 with a line drive single to centerfield, on which I advanced to second on an error. While standing on second I did the Oriole Sprinkler, and now I can cross that off m

10/07 Doubleheader

Today we played the Cardinals, who we beat 8-7, and the Mets, who we beat 15-2.  The Cardinals threw a very good pitcher who had a fastball that was probably mid 70s and a sweeper. I came up to bat twice against him, and I singled and walked. Being left-handed while facing a righty pitcher, I now understand the concept of the platoon advantage because his sweeper broke into my bat and I called it a 'tactical meatball.' I also scored a run.  I started at catcher and caught the whole game. I almost threw a guy out stealing, but who cares? We ended up tying the game in the last inning 4-4, and in the bottom of the fifth, we lost on a walk-off home run. It was literally hit over the fence, so darn. But it happens, and nobody was upset. In the second game I started pitching. I got the win and threw three innings of one run baseball, but I struggled quite a bit. I threw 54 pitches while only tossing 22 strikes, which is uncharacteristic of me. I was really worried because the base u

9/30 Doubleheader

Alas, we had another doubleheader. We actually have four more games in the fall season, and two Saturdays to play. We have two doubleheaders. Anyway, we were playing the same team for both of the games today. They are called the Legacy. In the first game, I started in leftfield. Nothing happened in the first inning, but in the second inning, after our starter was pulled, I made a diving catch in the outfield, which felt really good because I had been in a batting slump lately, and it was nice to help the team. At the plate, I went 0-1 with an RBI reach on error. We lost that game, but I really don't remember the score. In the second game, I started in left again, and nothing really happened. I came in to catch an inning, then I pitched. I came in with a 6-4 lead. The first batter grounded out to second. The next batter reached on an error. After that, I gave up an infield single. The batters reached second and third on a wild pitch, and then the umpire called a balk on me. He said
